Name-Polish Federation
Size: 4 million square miles
Type of government: Federal Democracy; creates a confederation of Eastern European states and directly rules Belarus; after the collapse of the Russian Federation in the early 2020s, Poland and a large number of Eastern European countries pushed east into Russia, as did Turkey, the expansion and competition between Turkey and Poland also drew Japan into the mix in the Pacific, throwing China and Korea into a frenzy as it remilitarized. By 2050, the world was at war, with the U.S., British, Japanese, Polish and Korean forces against China, Germany and Turkey, who had built a vast Empire on the scale of the Ottoman state of the 17th century. After 5 years of high-tech hell, the Poles and their allies defeated their enemies, but at brutal cost. Germany was completely shattered, and in a stunning reversal, was occupied by Poland, Turkey was forced to reliquish its Empire, while at the same time, Japan's reach extended enormously; but Poland was the real victor. It was effectively the 21st century version of the USSR, gaining immense influence and adding to its Empire from the 16th century. By 2060, Poland, Japan and the U.S. were the three Great Powers.

United Christian Europe
Capital: Vatican City
Leader: the Pope
Government: Theocratic oligarchy
Size: Covers all of Europe, from Lithuania to Portugal
The Empire rose out of extreme ultra-nationalism and the subsequent collapse of the European Union, placing the Holy Roman Emperor (Pope) in complete control of the European continent. The Army is more than 9 million men strong, and the parades they hold in the name of God and Christ on All Saint's Day are full of elaborate Roman symbolism, Christian eschatology and the marching Capuchin Order, who resemble the KKK in their uniforms, just far more colorful. The different territories are overseen by a Judge, much like the ones in Louis XIV's France.
